Internet phone service is becoming very popular these days. You will need to know how to set it up properly to get all the advantages.
If you plan to make a lot of calls through the computer, then make sure you buy high quality microphone. Microphone will act as a telephone.
Once you have your microphone, it is time to find an Internet phone service. There are two types of Internet phone services that you can get, and these are:
- Call from a computer to another computer
- Call from a computer to an actual telephone
I prefer to call from my computer to an actual telephone. This way you don't have to wait for other person to get on the Computer and receive the call.
There are many Internet phone services out there such as Skype, Gtalk, Yahoo, etc. Skype and Gtalk are more commonly used. Skype also provides one 10-minute phone call for free. You can test the voice quality and experiment with the service.
You will have to create an account and provide personal information such as address, phone number, e-mail, etc. This information is used for payment purposes.
* Note: Computer to computer calls are free in most cases.
Once you have decided that you want to use a service, you will have to pay for it. There are many different types of plans that you can buy.
You will most likely have to pay on monthly basis. Give your credit card information and buy your plan. Then, you can start calling anywhere in the world! This is one of the reasons why Internet phone service is so popular.
It is much cheaper than using calling cards, and you can also get 40-50 minutes for free by joining multiple sites. If you make a lot of international calls, then choose a plan that lets you make unlimited calls in a month. The difference between all the phone plans is not very different.
* Note: The payments will be paid on the Internet, and the Service might renew the phone if you don't cancel it. Avoid losing money if you don't want to continue!
In Skype, you have to call the number using a dial pad on the screen. Press the numbers, and then press call. Put your microphone on, and then you should be able to hear a ring. Once the person picks up the phone, you can start talking!
