Teen fashion: How to get Ashlee Simpson's style for less

Who says you have to buy high-end designer labels to stay chic, stylish and up-to-the-minute? I used to think, "Gee, I could never afford to follow the latest styles." The constant changes to my wardrobe would cost a fortune. Then I discovered Rave, Forever 21 (now called XXI Forever) and, now that I'm approaching thirty and no longer desire to dress like I'm, well, 21...

Charlotte Russe.

Sure, Charlotte Russe might not have quite the same ring or prestige as, say, L.A.M.B. But it does carry the same styles and must-haves of the season. I swear by their clearance racks. If you're willing to sift through racks that aren't quite as impeccably organized as the regular ones, you'll find plenty of items that are still hot, but only cost as little as 10% of the original cost, just because they're not technically this season's merchandise. I can't remember ever even perusing their in-season racks because I'm always perfectly happy with what I find on the one's marked "CLEARANCE!" and "UNDER $7". A couple months ago, I found myself in the market for some warm weather clothes and decided to duck in to Charlotte Russe while wandering around Southcenter Mall. I spent only $20 and walked out of the store with four tops. Those same tops would have cost $80-$120 had I purchased them only a month before. And, when I have a bit more money to spend, I can purchase apparel and shoes at full price and still only be paying a fraction of what high-end designers charge for similar or almost identical items. Hot styles from stores like these are even worn by celebrities and featured in fashion magazines.

And last, but definitely not least, don't hesitate to check out Ross Dress for Less. I found a beautiful Easter dress for my daughter there this past spring for only $12, and a cute little sun dress for me for just $5. My daughter has coveted DC shoes for a while now, and i found some at Ross for only $30, as opposed to the $50-60 they tend to cost at the mall. In general, their brand name merchandise is going to save to save you a hefty 20-60% when compared to department or specialty stores. And they always have sales going on, as well clearance rack upon clearance rack of extra savings.

Gives a whole new meaning to the phrase, "Happy shopping!"
