Firemaking is one of the simplest, easiest skills on Runescape. It is useful when you are far from a stove and need to cook something. You need very few skills to train firemaking, just a tinderbox and possibly an axe if you want to cut your own logs. To start a fire, just use your tinderbox with a pile of logs in your inventory. You will drop the logs and set them on fire. For players with little firemaking experience, this may take a few seconds, but for more experienced players, it is instantaneous. Obviously, firemaking is very straightforward, but there are some tips that will help you get more for your time. Whether your motivation is to get level 99 firemaking and a skill cape, or just to get better at this useful skill, you can improve by following these tips.
1. Burn the highest level of logs that you are able to. Making fires with regular logs may raise you to new levels of firemaking, but in actuality, regular logs do not give a lot of experience. As you ascend through the levels of firemaking, you will have to gain more and more experience to get to the next level. As soon as you can, cut down or buy oak logs at level 15, then willow at level 30, then maple at level 45, and then yew at level 60. Higher logs are rarer and are worth more, but they also give a significantly larger amount of experience.
2. Always carry around a tinderbox with you, even when you are not focused on training your firemaking. You never know when an opportunity to light a fire will present itself. You may not think that lighting a single fire will make much of a difference, but single fires add up over time. I suggest taking a tinderbox and an axe with you when you are fighting or fishing. That way, you can quickly cut down a tree, make a fire, and cook the meat or fish. That way, you get woodcutting and firemaking experience as well as some tasty food.
3. Store any logs that you cut in your bank account. If you are training your woodcutting skill in conjunction with your firemaking skill, you should save all of the logs in the bank so you can light them later. This is very easy to do if you cut down trees close to a bank. There are thousands of trees around Runescape, and plenty of them are close enough to a bank to simply zip in and zip out. One excellent spot for this is on the lakefront in Draynor. There is a copse of willow trees, which are fairly rare, and a bank very close by. It may seem tedious and unnecessary to store all of your logs when you are just
