Looking for an effective, easily available beauty product that won't break the bank? Then look no further than baking soda. Suffering from indigestion, sunburn and other ailments, then baking soda will come to the rescue.

So does baking soda really seem too good to be true?

First and foremost, baking soda, also known as bicarbonate of soda, is a pure and natural mineral in abundant supply. For over 150years baking soda has been sold throughout the world and its popularity has grown from being used in the kitchen to many other uses such as those in health and beauty.

Just think of the amount chemicals which go into many of the beauty toiletries which are on sale today; just think of the amount of fancy, non eco-friendly packaging and over-hyped advertising which inflate the price of these products.

Over the counter health items can cost the earth too and in some cases we are not made fully aware of some of their side- effects. How often do we find in the medicine cabinet, half- used tubes of ointment long past their sell by date, the remnants of some stale and neglected mouthwash or perhaps even an odd indigestion tablet lying around disintegrating?

Just one box of baking soda will go a long way in addressing all of these issues.

Here are some excellent ways to use baking soda for both beauty treatments and health benefits:

BEAUTY TREATMENTS :

Hair Cleansing:

By using a teaspoonful of baking soda, mixed in the palm of your hand with you usual amount of shampoo will bring you clean and shiny hair. What the baking powder does is strips the hair shaft of the build up of old and stale hair products.

Facial Scrub:

Give yourself an invigorating and inexpensive facial. Using one parts water to three parts baking soda mixed into a paste; gently spread the paste in a circular motion around the face avoiding the eyes; then carefully wash off with cool water. It is a tonic for your complexion but don't neglect to moisturize afterwards.

Foot Soak:

Pamper your feet after a hard day shopping. Immerse your feet into a bowl of warm water to which has been added three tablespoons of baking powder. The baking powder helps soften any hard skin and leaves your feet feeling rejuvenated. Indulge your feet even further by sprinkling baking powder into your slippers which will act as a deodorizer.

Bathing:

Make your own bath oil:

Recipe: 8fl oz honey; 16fl oz milk; 16 tbls sea salt ( if not, use cooking salt); 4 tbls baking soda; 4 fl oz baby oil.

Mix all the ingredients
