Poetry: Being trapped

by Nikki Hernandez

Created on: July 22, 2009

I thought you should know
That I don't know where to go
My heart is torn in two
And no, it's not because of you

I'm trapped here, I'm not sure where
The cold is too much, it's hard to bear
My mind is clouded, dark as night
Please my love, I wish for some light

I asked for some color, I got black and blue
I pleaded to see yet they filled me with rue
I raised my voice to speak, my mouth was taped
I pretended not to care, of course it was faked

I want to escape so I cheat I lie
But all it ever did was to make me cry
I don't want to be controlled; I'm not a puppet
I'm gonna cut the strings and ignore the threat

The pain is too much, oh the agony
I want to get out, I want to break free
The end to this nightmare I wish I could find
If I don't then I'd surely lose my mind

I admit I'm weak, brittle as a twig
But I'm more than sure or my grave I'll dig
That one day I'll be free I'm not gonna miss
And be with the man I'll forever please.
