Homemade, Natural Bath Treatments and Soaks: Relax in the Tub with Bath Soaks and Treatments

Though most of the time I take a shower, every now and then, I love to spoil myself and lounge in the tub with a good book, soaking away the troubles of the day. There's nothing like it. Often I add essential oils to the mix, but EOs can be expensive. So can expensive bath treatments you buy at the store. So today, I wanted to share some of my personal recipes for homemade natural bath treatments and soaks you can make with things you probably have around your kitchen anyway!

Soothing Tea Natural Homemade Bath Treatments

You're going to laugh, but you'll be amazed! Take your tea bags you buy at the grocery store, tear them open and dump the tea leaves into the bath water! If you don't like bathing with tea leaves, you can always keep them in the bag filter too. You can also brew three or four cups of strong hot tea first and then pour that into the bathwater. Try different fragrances, such as chamomile for soothing and relaxing bath, green tea for energizing and revitalization bath, and regular tea for help with itching or rashes.

Relaxing and Soothing Milk Natural Homemade Bath Treatments

Milk is so very good for the skin because the lactic acid helps with exfoliation, so adding warm milk to your bath can feel good and leave your skin feeling luxurious and silky smooth. You can use regular whole milk, but evaporated and condensed milks are usually cheaper and they tend to work better on skin. Buttermilk baths are wonderful if your skin is very dry and itchy. Warm the milk first before adding to the bath. If canned or whole milk is too expensive, powdered milk is very inexpensive and the powder can be tossed into the bath under running water.

Citrus Baths for Oily Skin Natural Homemade Bath Treatments

Citrus baths are amazing for those who are suffering from oily skin or have recently had a sweaty workout. Any citrus fruit will do, and you can squeeze the fresh fruits right into the bath and stir the water with your foot to mix it up. Grapefruit smells particularly good in bath water and are inexpensive for the size of the fruit. Lemon and lime and orange are all good choices as well.

Oatmeal and Cream Natural Homemade Bath Treatment

A little powdered milk and some old fashioned oatmeal oats (not the instant packages kind) can make a great soothing bath for rashes, itches, extra dry skin or flakey skin. This is a good bath for young children with scratches or allergies that itch and you are seeking some relief. There's no need to buy the expensive oatmeal medicated baths, because the natural stuff works just as well and is much, much cheaper!

Cooking Oil and Sugar and Fragrance Natural Homemade Bath Treatment

Believe it or not, cooking oil like peanut oil, coconut oil, virgin olive oil or canola oil can be mixed with regular old table sugar and then a few drops of your favorite perfume and you stir well-you'll have a luxurious oil bath that leaves a soft scent, and the sugar will help the oil mix with the water. You can also use this same mixture to gently scrub your knees, heels and elbows to remove rough patches.

I'll bet if you use your imagination and glance around your house, you can come up with a bunch of ideas for comfortable, cozy, relaxing bath treatments that are all natural, inexpensive and just as wonderful as the expensive name brand bath treatments at the store!
