Low-fat snacks for busy lifestyles

Living a hectic life seems to be the norm these days. Rushing between family, work, friends and the gym, and you've got no time left to relax, let alone eat a healthy snacks. Sometimes you find yourself reaching for a chocolate bar or doughnut because there's just not enough time to fix something healthy.

Low fat snacks are available for busy people, and they can be made in no time or prepared early and kept on hand for when you are rushing. The better prepared you are, the easier it is to choose healthy low fat snacks.

Yoghurt is one of the best things to keep in your fridge. It's something you can just grab and go, especially so if it's in a bottle and you can drink it. This is a low fat snack that is great for people on the go.

Sunflower seeds and mixed nuts. Protein, vitamin and minerals, as well as the good fat that's needed for our health. Keep a mix on hand in your car, desk drawer or handbag for a quick snack when you're out and about. This insures you against buying something high fat on the town when you're really hungry.

Protein bars are a good alternative to chocolate bars. If you regular crave and consume chocolate bars throughout the day, than it might an idea to go for a low fat protein bar instead. You'll still get your chocolate fix, but with less fat and more protein which will give you more energy than a regular chocolate bar.

Cottage cheese is a fantastic snack options. Keep it in the fridge for when you need a low fat protein snack. It keeps you full and can be eaten as a sweet snack with fruit or jam, or as a salty one with sliced up vegetables. It's quick and easy.

Cut up vegetables. If you know you're busy throughout the week it's an idea to keep cut up broccoli, carrot and celery sticks, and other favourite vegetables in the fridge. You can take them in a container and snack on them anywhere. They are low in calories and fat, but will keep you full from the fibre, and provide you with vitamins and minerals.

Eggs are a special food. They are low in fat and calories. There's only about 70 calories in one egg, and they are saturated with important vitamins and have a good amount of protein to keep you full for longer. Hard boil the eggs and keep them in the fridge for when you need a quick snack. Or chop them up into a quick salad.

Even if you're busy it's still possible to eat healthy and low fat snacks. A little preparation really does go a long way. The important thing is to find snacks that you enjoy so that you won't be tempted to choose an unhealthy option.
