What is this beastie?
Creature of horror
Or creature of love?
Depends on your attitude
And experience
With them.
To some they are a nightmare
Something to fear
Or even to kill.
But not all are like that
Some are pets
Sweet, beautiful, and tame.
These are friendly and docile
Loving to be scratched
Behind the ears.
I look at my own rats
With their pretty coats
And sparkly eyes
And cannot imagine
Them crawling through sewers
Or over garbage!
Instead they enjoy
Playing and cuddling
And lick my hand or face.
Pet rats are like
A tiny, miniature dog
Bonding with you for life.
They are not mean
Or filthy dirty
Or disease-carrying!
They are loyal
And trusting
And loving furry friends.
Don't believe it?
Just ask anyone
Who has had them.
You'll hear that rats
are the best of any type
Of small pet!

Poetry: Rats
by Zorlone
The rat was a goner
(An ABC poem)
A thud sounded loudly in the kitchen.
Behold, a rat, running amok!
Clambering through pots
by Carol Gioia
Years spent in the rat race,
running blindly, avoiding traps,
striving hard to hold my own
with overzealous rodent chaps.
Attention
by Sid de Knees
A introduction;
I heard, that when a dead rat is found by fellow rats, they take a nibble to build an immunity to poisons
Scampering through the sewers
Hopping through the sludge
Neck deep in the mire
A despicable little drudge
With every sight
What is this beastie?
Creature of horror
Or creature of love?
Depends on your attitude
And experience
With them.
