Although astrology has come a long way in its acceptance and use by the general populace, there are still many aspects of astrology that are unknown by many.
One of these comes from the Arabian system of astrology, the Arabian Parts. These parts are derived by taking the sign and degree of ones Ascendant at birth, adding the sign and degree of a specific planet and then subtracting the sign and degree of another specific planet. What is arrived at, by this mathematical equation, is an imaginary point in the natal chart that describes such things as bankruptcy, love, surgery, divorce, or fortune, to name a few.
There are 32 of these Arabian Parts, but it is the Part of Fortune that is the most commonly used in natal astrology charts. This particular Part is arrived at by taking the sign and degree of ones Ascendant, at birth, and adding the sign and degree of the natal Moon and then subtracting the sign and degree of ones natal Sun. The resulting placement, by sign and degree, represents worldly success that is achieved mainly through the person's own efforts. It represents the pot of gold at the end of our personal rainbows that we search for during the course of our lives. It is the thing that will bring us the most joy.
This Part, this point in the chart, is equidistant from each of the three elements used in the calculation to find it: the Ascendant, the Moon and the Sun. Some may wonder why this is. Like the Sun itself, our Sun sign offers the opportunity to radiant the brightness, the goodness of all that we are. If we face our goodness and energize our lives with it, all doubt will disappear. This is not about what others think of us, but what we think and believe about ourselves and our Sun signs offer us the opportunity for growth through belief in all the goodness that lies within us.
The Moon, on the other hand, is about our emotional nature and how we respond to the outside stimulus in our lives. If we look to the sign the Moon was in at the time of our birth we gain great insight into how we naturally respond to life. This, however, may have been changed through upbringing and/or life experience. So we must go back and view the emotional qualities we were born with and those which we may emotionally
