Poetry: The masks we wear

by Angela Anonymous

How can you see how people truly feel,

When they all wear their mask to hide what is real?

The mask of a love that will never be felt,

Makes you bet on a poker hand that hasnt been dealt.

A mask of kindness when they hate inside,

And one of sincerity to hide evil pride.

They wear one of gentleness when they're full of rage,

A book of life and you can't turn the page.

A mask of concern when they couldn't care less.

Judging you harshly when you do your best.

A mask of honesty while they tell you lies ,

And at the truth a part of you dies.

How can you ever learn to trust,

When they cover a cold metal heart of rust?

And you can never see anyone's true face,

With a mask of deception there in its place.

Am I the only one who is real?

Who says what I mean and shows what I feel?

I know its a crazy question to ask,

Cause I won't find the truth while they're wearing their masks.
