Is Mystery Shoppers really a job or a rip-off?

Mystery Shopping is a great way to supplement your income.

Whether you are a senior citizen wanting to supplement your Social Security, a student who wants to make some spending money, or a stay at home mom who wants to get paid for some of her regular shopping trips mystery shopping is a great way to accomplish this.

The amount of money that you can earn depends on the number of hours that you are willing to work and your location.

If you live in a metropolitan area there will be more jobs available than if live in a rural area. However, there are ample jobs available in most any area of the country.

Don't fall victim to the many mystery shopping scams going around. These advertisements promise that for X amount of money they will show you how to become a mystery shopper. In reality what you usually get for your money is simply a list of companies to which you can submit applications to become a contract mystery shopper. Legitimate companies never require you to pay to submit an application or to become an independent contractor for them.

With a little bit of resourcefulness you can find an almost unlimited number of legitimate companies to which you can submit applications.

By entering the words "mystery shopping" in any good search engine a search will return you a number of companies who will welcome your application to become an independent mystery shopper.

An excellent source for information concerning mystery shopping is the MSPA (Mystery Shoppers Providers Association)official web site. The leading companies in the field of Mystery Shop Providers are members of this association. They provide training and certification for mystery shoppers.

I have my Gold Certification from MSPA and have been mystery shopping for the past 5 years. I love the freedom of being able to decide which jobs I want to take, which companies I want to contract for, the amount of money I want to earn and being able to make my own work schedule.
