Summertime is always a time to have a different makeup routine. With the hot and humid weather, you have to prevent your makeup from dripping off your skin, and your skin also has to breathe. This is a common time for breakouts because of all the excess oil. You want a routine that is not time-consuming, and allows your natural look to shine through.
Wait until the autumn to use the foundation and powder routine as a base. Instead, use some tinted moisturizer, or a cream-to-powder formula. Tinted moisturizers are especially great for people with dry skin because it keeps skin soft and still gives a true glow, not an oily glow. I personally like to use mineral makeup. It allows your skin to have a certain glow, especially when it is a nice day outside. Every makeup brand has a cream-to-powder foundation and mineral foundation, but I am partial to th ones from Avon. It gives you all over coverage. You never have to worry about imperfections being apparent. It is also important to use a base with an adequate SPF factor built in. You have to also be concerned with preventing skin cancer. You could still use concealer to cover any obvious blemishes, but remember to blend well, and only use where needed. When you are going swimming, a waterproof foundation is key, and should not be forgotten. This is also good for stopping your makeup from running or melting, even if you are not swimming.
Just as with a base, the rest of your makeup should be light, and also light-colored. Choose cream formulas instead of powders for eyeshadow and blush, because powder formulas fade quickly and look caked-on. Cream formulas blend nicely, and do not have a streaking effect. Some light colors to use for eyes are white, beige, taupe, and soft browns and grays. Blush should be a color that matches your skin after a great workout. Choose lipstick or lip gloss that comes in light pink, nude, or coral shades. You could wear darker colors for a stronger look when going out for the evening, but your base foundation should be the same. Use the blues, greens, and violets for that nighttime dramatic look.
Even when you are using lighter foundation, your skin could still get oily and shiny. Blotting papers are a must-have and should always be carried in your purse. It gives you a great way to remove excess oil without having to redo any makeup. Always use moisturizer before applying foundation, and use one with a high SPF factor also. Primer is a great thing to use because it keeps the rest of your makeup in place.
Enjoy these tips and have a great summer.
