Created on: July 20, 2009

Kitchen cabinets get always dirty with the fumes and the oily release that come from cooking and we really feel disturbed some times at the condition of the cabinets and other furniture in the kitchen. The time we are busy on cooking we are indirectly helping the dirt to gather on the kitchen cabinets affecting their original luster and color. The condition of the furniture becomes so much mutilated that we feel sorry for the state of the kitchen cabinets and the overall composure of the room. Things become really unpleasant with the stickiness' around the table top and on utensils and others. You can not estimate the amount of damage that the cooking has reached this furniture unless you open a handle or unscrew a hinge of the cupboard to see the color difference that the cooking fumes had affected the kitchen furniture. The original color of the furniture can be regained if the kitchen is properly cleaned.

You can always prevent this to happen to your kitchen by taking some definite steps. The exhaust fan over the cooking range helps to get some of the fumes out but the entire greasiness does not go at all. When you are in the habit of using your kitchen daily, you have to build a habit of cleaning it properly everyday. Keep a day in the month fixed for kitchen cleaning so that the greasy touch could be managed and you do not find the kitchen covered with a lot of oily film all over.

There are cleaning products available in the market but you should be able to do with the mixtures that you make yourself in the kitchen for this cleaning and get wonderful result. Take some dish wash soap in a cup of water. Apply this solution either with paper towels or a piece of clean cloth on the cabinets and other table tops. If it is made of wood, it is better to follow the grains. Give some time and than rinse with a sponge with water and dry the cabinet with the towel usually used for dish drying. The dish wash soap will be just enough to take out the greasy part of the dirt that had deposited on the cabinets.

There are several branded products for this work, which are very effective on greasy table tops and cabinets. You have to work the products as per the manufacturer's guidelines to get best results. If you are keen to use only natural products for this particular job, prepare a mixture of vinegar and water and give a rubbing of the solution on the cabinet tops and on other parts as well. You may have to repeat your actions a few times to get your cabinet elegantly cleaned.

Painted cabinets are also affected by greasy substances from the cooking and they also require the cleaning like the wooden ones. There is one kind of spray available for this kind of work, which can be helpful to spray the soapy liquid on the body of the cabinet. If the paint seems to fade, you can apply another coat on it to look new.
