Battle of the spreads: Butter vs. margarine

It is always better to use a natural product over a man made product. In the case of butter, not only does it taste better but it enhances the flavor of different foods.

In an article I read a couple of years ago, an experiment was done with margarine. It was left in a garage for a couple of months. You would think that it would be bad and start to mold. This wasn't the case, there wasn't any mold on the margarine at all and it looked like you had just bought it from the store. The reason for this is that it is made from a form of plastic. It is extremely bad for you, you are putting oil into your system filled with preservatives.

The wonderful thing about butter is that it is made from milk. You can buy salted or unsalted varieties and that is depending on your taste and your health issues. If you can't have large amounts of salt then you buy the unsalted variety. When I am baking, I always use unsalted butter because you are adding salt to the recipe and you don't want to make your cookies taste salty.

Another reason to use butter over margarine is because you will use less of it. The taste of butter is richer than margarine, so to compensate, people use more margarine than they use butter, which means you increase your intake of fatty foods.

Overall, butter tastes better, it is cheaper in the long run because you use less of it, and it is better for you.
