IN THE RAIN, THINKING OF YOU
(To Prunela. Airmail Express. Special Delivery)
Here I am in the rain
Thinking of you
The swaying icacos
Work on my mind
Missing our Caribbean home
Missing the wonder of you

Return to nights of Jasmin
Nights of the little Indian I loved
Nights of the hammock we shared.
If I die in this northern place
My soul will rest forever with you
With you, with the icacos,
With the bougainvilla and jasmine.
Duty calls
But I cannot forget.
