Poetry: Incomplete

by Catherine Peery

Created on: July 20, 2009

The blue of the sky is pure and innocent like the breath of a newborn child. How sweet she is, her palm blooming up towards her mother's face, bright and powerful like the morning sun. How beautiful her expression is, to know no harm, no evil, no heartbreak, just the rest of her life to learn new things and cherish the contagious smile of her loving mother. The wind's whispers are bitter sweet; bitter in a way that it too soon disappears and sweet in that for that moment, time freezes, everything is silent, all your ears allow you to hear are the rhythms the wind makes as it grazes the leaves. Dance with me, glide through my fingers as smooth as the burning hot shower water along the crease of my back after a long cry goodnight. Trees follow the steepness and dips of the hills and mountains, bleeding into the skyline. Thunder calms my heavy heartbeat as the lightning enlightens the land; darkness is lit up, only to be taken away again.
