Poetry: Vesper light

by C. C. Laurel

Created on: July 20, 2009

Winter sun fades to vesper light

Implored silence to the ebbing day

Quickening ceased but memories remain

Reflecting the moments of the foregoing spent

Gleanings of the silent retreat

Hold still the trials and joys

Sweat vesper light remain for now

Grace the hunger of the fasting soul

Yet, deepening shadows chase the blessed light

As darkness encroaches on the waning day
