Analyzing Postcard Mailing
As people get to know you and your product or service through postcard mailings, your business will increase. Advertising works because it tells people you exist and gives them a unique opportunity to do business with you. Postcard advertising works because the message is like a billboard, only in the mailbox. Even when people throw your postcard away, they've probably seen your company name and logo, and therefore have a reason to remember you.
Creating Your Postcard
Your message must be clear and accurate when you create your postcard. Decide what you want to accomplish with it, and express your ideas in several different ways before committing to them. Choose attractive colors that blend with each other well. Make sure the font you use is easy to read, and try not to overload your postcard with too many words.
One thing that works well for postcards is an offer that gets the customer to act on something. If you can relay a message that allows your customer to interact with you, half the battle is won. Give them an opportunity to call you, or offer them a special discount for ordering on the weekend. Once they make contact, you can close the sale with your quality product or service.
You can design your postcard using your own computer, and merging it with your address book for direct mailing, or you can work with an ad agency that specializes in print advertising. You might also be able to include a printable version of your postcard on your website, especially if there is a special offer on it.
Mailing Your Postcard
After you've created your postcard, you'll need to mail it to your target audience. Research should be done beforehand to determine who will receive your card. If there are different groups of interest, custom tailored postcards should be made for each target audience. It's easy to look up your product online to determine who your customers are most likely to be.
If you already have a customer base, you probably have a reasonable idea of who your consumers are. Using this information, you can expand your customer base by targeting similar groups of people. If you want to expand your customer base, and reach out to another target audience, it would be good to learn about them first.
Marketing lists can be purchased from several companies. Many of them can be found online. These businesses sort and arrange their lists by zip code, demographics, personal interests, and a variety of other ways so that you can purchase exactly what you need.
It is important to target small groups with postcard mailing, and repeat the mailings to the same group for an extended period of time. When a person sees something more than once, they are likely to remember it, so if you can get them to look at several of your postcards, they will become familiar with your company.
Postcard advertising is an effective and efficient way to help market your company. Design is important, but a direct message that gets repeated often is vital. Your actual sale conversions might not seem like much with postcard mailings, usually around 1 - 2%, your costs are limited and depending on the size of your mailing, 1 - 2% might be a very good number indeed.
