There are symphonies inside you.
Some woven tight as sails,
Others gossamer light, breath expanding.
Through each flows an anchoring tune,
That divides, and wars, and ebbs, and flows,
An octave's range between us.
There are whole oceans to explore.
No sooner is one mighty span of water crossed,
Sails furled to rest upon a sandy spit,
Than another horizon beckons,
And I set sail to seek a distant shore.
There are symphonies inside me.
Some ancient and heartfelt, words long forgotten and unchanging,
And new songs resonant with hope.
There are whole oceans to explore.
(*a musical term meaning 'smooth, flowing, connected')
