Doesn't it say in the Holy Bible that God created all men equal? Doesn't it say in our Declaration of Independence that we are all equal? If we are all equal in the Bible and in the Declaration of Independence, then why don't gays get to marry who they are in love with, while straight people are allowed to marry their partner? Gay marriage should be allowed in all states, it shouldn't even be a question of whether or not it should be allowed.
I stated one perfectly good reason above of why gay couples should be allowed to marry each other if they so please. Also, another reason is if a random person on the street gets married, and you have no idea who they are, will it affect you? You don't know the person, and if they don't do anything to you, it will not affect your life, and you shouldn't care. So what does it matter if a gay couple wants to get married and you don't know them? It will not involve any contact with you at all.
Another good reason, it is definitely not fair. If a gay couple has been waiting and waiting to get married, only to find out Prop 8 passed, they will be heartbroken. Most, if not all of us want a fairytale wedding, no matter what your sexual preferences. Why don't they get to have a happily ever after? They should be able to have the same wedding as the rest of us and not just have to be able to say they will commit to each other.
Gays can't decide to be straight, or bi-sexual, or gay. It is how you are born. Just like you can't change your parents. If you are straight, can you just like your same sex? Its not possible. They are born the way they are, just like we are, and they can't change who they are. As the saying goes, "You can't change your stripes."
Some people will say that it is against their religion or that if they are allowed to marry it will be taught in schools. I have never been taught about marriage in any of my schooling years, except for hearing how Sleeping Beauty married Prince Charming. And if God loves everyone, why doesn't he love gays enough to let them be able to be married and treated equal?
Gay marriage should be allowed, just like marriage is allowed for straight people, in all states.
