You are lying comfortably in your bed and you just can not get that last piece of cheesecake out of your head. You are driving home exhausted from work and you are only thinking of that sweet piece of chocolate as a pick me up. As a kid, you would run home from school and you could not wait to be greeted by tall glass of cold milk to dunk your favorite dark cookies with that white fluffy filling inside to only leave behind a milk mustache.
Just thinking about these memories makes me hungry for some of my favorite sugary snacks. So, how do you fight off those sugar cravings? The main technique to fighting a sugar craving is to make sure that you have a replacement for the sugar that you will be lacking in your system.
There are many sugar substitutes on the market. Do your research on what product is best for you before replacing sugar with a sugar substitute. There are some substitutes that do not react with your body well. For example, it may not be wise to give young children diet sodas. It would be better to just limit their sugar intake rather than giving them diet soda.
There is still some controversy about certain sugar substitute brands. Investigate which variety is best for you. For example, I am allergic to aspartame and will get very ill if I eat any food containing the product. I have to use the Splenda brand or the generic version. There are many foods such as chocolates, chocolate syrups, pancake syrups and icecream that contain Splenda. These are some great products when I am having a sugar craving.
Nothing is better for you when you are having that sugar craving than grabbing a piece of fruit. You can also go for the dried up fruit version. Try mixing up raisins with some peanuts to get the sweet and salty blend. Or you can even dehydrate apples and sprinkle with cinnamon. They are a wonderful snack for both adults and children. You can make a smoothie made with low fat milk, ice, fresh fruit and sweetened with honey.
I use be a big Mt. Dew drinker before I cut sugar out of my diet. Once I did, then I not only lost thirty pounds but I also lost my sugar craving. At first it was difficult. I would crave the sugar. I would imagine the soda being poured over ice cubes and the fizz of the soda popping from the cold glass. A third of my addiction was mental, a third to caffeine and a third to sugar. Now, if I eat anything with too much sugar, my stomach will get upset.
One of my son's was the biggest sugar fanatic around. He would
