Poetry: What's your notion?

by Mary Kathryn Burdick

Where's Your Fire ?

I've given much thought to that question, "Where's your fire"?

So I've pondered greatly before I inquire.

It's something I have even myself asked.

Pondering on it for something before answers were unmasked.

Where's your fire?

I have learned it's where your most motivated, where you aspire.

Also where you tend to encourage others and inspire.

I have also learned it's a God given talent that you acquire.

I have wondered for years where mine might lay.

Before the answer suddenly came to me one day.

It was right under my nose the whole time.

If only I had taken notice of where I shine.

My whole life I always loved writing of some kind.

Now so clear, why hadn't I seen it before? Was I blind?

I was always writing stories in school complete with art work.

I never thought of it as talent just some kind of quirk.

I wrote letters to family, friends, and loved ones.

Updating, and encouraging them and writing little puns.

I am always writing endless lists and notes.

Enough to fill several totes.

I was always writing notes at church, shopping or meetings.

Always writing some kind of letter or greetings.

I am forever finding notes to myself in my purse.

With some kind of note or handwritten verse.

I'm not quite sure how it all finally evolved.

But I can say I have peace knowing it has been solved.

I owe it all to my God and all that He made.

I secretly hope one day I can even get paid.
