THE SUN WILL AGAIN RISE

Silently the twilight drifts down on the shoulders of a cloud,

Daylight has spent its beauty on a country that is so proud.

Imagine without the sun, there would be no stately trees.

There would be no movement of branches, caressed by a passing breeze.

There would be no swaying flowers with their throats towards the sun,

Or their wilted heads bowed to the ground, at last when day is done.

There would be no carolling magpies, competing for territory,

To ensure their ongoing existence, revelling in their right to be free.

There would be no sun dappled stream, where dragonflies dart to and fro.

Where trout wait patiently in shadow, should their prey dare to fly too low.

There would be no bush track to wander, where wild orchids proudly display,

Where bees plunder their pollen, enabling the flower's beauty to see another day.

There wouldn't be awe inspiring sunsets, that blaze across the sky,

To herald the oncoming twilight, this, the sun cannot deny.

But as the nigh-time settles to the rhythm of nature's hand,

We know the sun will again rise, how could it not - for such a beautiful land.
