THE QUIET OF THE NIGHT
Why do you come to me in the quiet of the night
Stealthily drifting through my mind.
Could you not make yourself known, in the full light of day,
When my turmoil is not so unkind.
The silence of the dark brings thoughts best left alone,
Our regrets, failed dreams and what we should have done.
The failure to carry through plans tht were made,
A sense of defeat when success does not come.
But as the sun lightens the morning sky,
Think of all the beauty in your life.
Your family, your friends and a beautiful land,
Here are life's basics, not subject to ongoing strife.
