Hypoallergenic cats: How to find a hypoallergenic cat

if just hearing the word ''cat'' makes your nose feel suddenly itchy and your eyes full of tears, very likely you are one of those people allergic to cats. Bless you! You may be happy to hear today that the first batches of hypoallergenic cats have been produced and that they are happily living in sneezeless homes where allergic cat lovers can finally pet and cuddle them with the old day ''etchuus'' being now just a far distance memory.

Seems too good to be true? Well, no need to pinch your arm to check if you are dreaming as their generous price tag will take care of waking you up.

First of all, let's get rid of a myth: its not really the cat's fur to cause all those sneezes. Rather it is the cat's skin and saliva. This explains why owners of furless cats such as Devon Rex still may suffer from allergies.

Now, simply think of the words Ashera, Chakan and Allerca. No these are not names of pricey designer handbags or perfumes, rather they are the names of hypoallergenic cat breeds designed just for allergic cat lovers. These pets are scientifically proved to be hypoallergenic, happily allowing allergic cat lovers and cats to be friends again.

But how is this possible?

According to Allerca, Lifestyle Pets, the main trigger of cat allergies is attributed to a glycoprotein called Fel d 1. This protein is secreted by the cat's sebaceous glands and allergic cat owners tend to get in contact with this through the cat's skin or saliva. These proteins are released in the air and are found in particles significantly smaller than dust or pollen.

The great news for cat allergy sufferers is that naturally occurring genetic divergences (GD) appear not to harm the cats finally allowing deserved relief to allergic cat lovers.

Why Types of Cats are Hypoallergenic?

Allerca GD

The Allerca GD is a beautiful cat that comes in many colors. Cat lovers interested in this cat therefore would get to pick the cat's color. Their fur is mid length and easy to maintain with little shedding. These cats are based on the short hair breed and are medium sized cats. Their personality is very sweet an social and they make great family pets.

Chakan GD

This cat is more oriental looking and will be appreciated by allergic cat lovers that love Siamese. The Chakan is the result of Allerca cat breedings with Siamese cats. These cats have the typical seal point colorations of Siamese cats with creamy hues. They have almond shaped eyes with distinct gem blue colors.Their personality is very social and they are very smart.

Ashera GD

This is a very special cat, exhibiting the same hypoallergenic qualities along with a special twist: they are very rare cats with the look of mini leopards with some very interesting colors. They are pretty large cats weighing up to 25 pounds. Friendly and playful they surely make great companions.

Still sounds to be to good to be true? With a price tag starting average $5000-6000 dollars for the Allerca and up to $16,000 for the Ashera, you will certainly no longer worry about sneezing but perhaps worry about balancing your checkbook. However, just imagine the years spent with no itchy eyes and sneezes along with a fluffy loving cat and the price tag may be an old memory along with those long series of allergy attack ''etchuus''!
