Younger eyes reflect the years
Of a soul battered and scorched
Travel through strain and strife
Questioning "the what for"
A quest for inner discern light
Required strength aloft
The burden held by duty drawn
Left shadow land forlorn
A soldier, then, needs no fears
As he faced the dragon's fire
Astride created pain and grief
