How to apply eye shadow

You use eye shadows to emphasise, add dimension, colour and draw attention to the eyes. The variety of colours in eye shadows is astonishing, the only problem would be choosing just which colour you want. Having said that do not be afraid to try colour, or even something a little different. Colour can really brighten up your face, and there is a variety of ways you can wear your eye shadow.

Before you purchase an eye shadow you should sample a little on your skin as the colour may change in accordance with your skin colouring.

Let us now look at eye colouring and eye shadows:

Blue eyes: your beautiful blue eyes will look fantastic with lilacs, pinks, greens, pale browns and gold. You can also use navy and most pastel colours, however, try to avoid pale blue as it may make your eyes look washed out.

Green eyes: for beautiful eyes try different shades of brown, rust, khaki also you can wear softer colours.

Green-grey eyes: for fantastic looking eyes go for smokey greys and charcoals.

Brown eyes: this versatile eye colour works well with most colours, just be careful with some pastel shades.

Try different colours you may be pleasantly surprised by a colour that you did not think would suite you.

Always start with the lightest colour first on the eye and then add more depth with colour.

Apply eye shadows with a sponge applicator or brush. With cream or gel eye shadows put a little on your pallet before applying with a sponge applicator, brush or a clean finger.

Different types of eye shadows:

Powders

Powder eye shadows cling to the eyelid by being compressed and moisture being added to them. Powder eye shadow may feel taught on dry skins, on the positive side they have staying power. To save you from having to clear flacks of fallen eye shadow from under your eyes after apply eye shadow, tap your brush on your pallet gently before applying to your lid.

Creams

Due to the fact that cream eye shadows are oil based they will have a tendency to crease, therefore you should apply them before you use your pressed or translucent powder. It is best to avoid these eye shadows if you have very mature skin as they will emphasis lined skin also it will seep into fine lines as it warms. They are suitable if you have mature or dry skin. To get a more defined look use a pearly cream to highlight the brow bone.

Crayons and pencils are easy to apply to the eyelid, however, they will need to blended really well. Just be careful that
