Satire: Infatuation

Getting into a fight may hurt, but arguing with your best friend is so normal that it never hurts more than the last time. Andrea never liked my boyfriend; maybe it was because she was jealous or maybe it was because she didn't approve. Whatever the reason was, there came a time when it caused problems. But the problems went both ways because I had something that I could throw back in her face: Her boyfriend was a jerk.

It all started on our way to our seminary class. It was a pleasant day with fluffy clouds and bright blue skies. The snow was glistening in the sunlight. This weather made a perfect setting for a spat. It all started with a concerned friend who noticed a difference in my charisma.

"What's wrong, babe?"

"Nothing much...I'm just baffled that though you told me to always tell you my exciting stories, you weren't interested when I told you about Jim. You just made me feel stupid, disappointed, and misguided. That's all."

She was thrown back by the accusation.

"Wha-why..." She couldn't explain herself. I asked why she always wanted to hear about Matt but not ever about Jim. She said something that only cut and twisted the knife, "I liked Matt better than I do Jim."

We didn't speak the whole rest of the way up. It was then that she knew that I was a little bugged by what she had said. On the way down I cut her back by saying, "Well, I'm just confused because I don't like Mike at all but I still pretend to be interested in your mushy stories."

She ran to her friend Amber and cried in her arms. I ran off to my friend Lizzy and explained the entire thing.

"Oh my gosh! Did she really say that? How could she think of a thing like that? That really was inconsiderate of her. She's never ever said anything so mean. I can't forgive her after that. I'll never talk to her, ever again! I'm so upset that she is despicably cruel."

Best friends seem to be the ones who make up the quickest, but they also hurt each other the most as well. It's hard to forgive, but a girl is more willing to forgive the one she loves most, especially when the wound was created over a dramatic boy problem. But, does a girl ever really get over it?
