I CAN
The cool embrace of the rain gives ease to my sunburnt skin,
I've been on the move for many days, chasing a personal whim.
My horse is tired, his head hanging down, my dog lies in the shelter of a tree.
I've boiled my billy, I lean back on my swag and analyse my whim to be free.
I keep in mind why I wanted to leave, to be rid of the encumbrance of society.
What use are the trappings of a busy city life, all I want is to be on my own and be me.
I can watch the sun rise over the trees, and the wild geese pattern the skies.
The chatter of geckos clinging to leaves, gravitation they seem to defy.
I can hunt for food, I can fish the streams, I can survive on my own I am sure.
I can strive to find that peace of mind, I can discard what was before.

Poetry: Our own world
by Tony Gomes
The world is a fast pitching ball
Coming at me troubled speed
Will I foul up, miss or strike out?
Give it or take perhaps
And I said 'hold me'
you said 'forever'
you said 'scared?'
i said 'never'
and we lay there
we had it all
neither
When we enter our own world
And the world outside starts to disappear
You make me feel like you don’t know any other
Everyday I ponder the condition of the world.
There is greed, prejudice, hatred, and violence.
They are at the forefront
