I am 14. I guess that makes me a 'teenager'. I am a home-schooled big sister to six kids. Yes, I am the oldest. No, I would not want to get rid of any of my little siblings. No, I do not hate my parents. Yes, my parents are awesome. Yes, my house is busy.
No, I do not go to school in my pajamas, do you?
There, now that we've dealt with all those pesky questions, let me give you a peek into my life. Both my mom and my dad work. My mom does a job petsitting- it's pretty cool. I wish I had it. My dad is an electrician. Since my mom is gone every morning from about seven to eight-thirty, it's my job to get up and make my dad breakfast and lunch before he goes off to work.
I then make breakfast for my siblings- usually oatmeal or toast, sometimes (very rarely) cereal. I get them dressed, and we get cleaning. Each of us has a job. If we haven't assigned jobs for that month/week yet, I assign them. There is a no-complaining policy in our house. You do what I tell you, and hurry. As soon as it's done, you can go play.
Usually, there's dishes to be done, floors to be swept, laundry (endless laundry) to be washed, dried, and folded, and plenty of beds to be made. Luckily, our house isn't that big (for now), so there isn't that much to do. As soon as we're done cleaning, we have free time. I'll often read or play on the computer, blogging, etc.
By this time, mom has been home for a few hours, so we get down to business. Sometimes we'll have a set school time, others we won't. Often, we just read a book and call it good. Lunch falls about the time we get hungry. That would be anywhere between 11:30-1:00, so then we'll make lunch- usually sandwiches, or perhaps macaroni and cheese. If mom has a petsitting run to make, she does it about this time. Depending on the day, we may go to the library or the store during this time, as well.
Dad comes home about 6:00. We have dinner ready for him, and we eat. We then clean up the dinner mess, and then we have the evening to hang out. Sometimes dad will take us out to the mall, sometimes we'll get a movie from the library or Blockbuster, and then we'll stay at home and watch it.
My life is fun. I wouldn't trade it in for another, for any amount of money. Oh, and I am keeping my little brothers.
