"I'm going medieval on your ass, you little f..."
Before he could finish that thought, his cell phone rang and though he didn't want to answer it, Frank wanted to see who was calling him. "Oh, Christ, Henry, what do you want now ..." he muttered as he opened the phone, pressed the o.k. button, "Hey, Henry."
"Hey, Frank, how are you?"
"I'm fine, I'm doing o.k. So, uh, what's up?"
"Oh, nothing much, I just wanted to know if you wanted to come to the gym. I'm going there in about a half-hour."
Frank was very upset by this because he very much wanted to go to the gym. He liked being there. It was a long walk, of course, with the car still in the shop, but now that Henry was offering him a ride over there, it sounded very fun. This made answering Henry very difficult. "No, I'm sorry, Henry, I can't make it there, tonight."
"Why not?"
"It's, uh ... I have to go to Home Depot, now. Actually, maybe you could drop me off there before we go to the gym?"
Frank knew Henry's answer before he even gave it. Henry's routine was always certain, down to a tee. He'd drive to the gym at 7:00, order a smoothie, go to the bathroom, come back to have his smoothie a little warmer and slushy waiting for him, down it, meet with his trainer at 8:00 and then leave at 9:30 sharp and he never broke that routine, so it was no surprise when he said, "Nah, Frank, it's too far out of the way, and then I'd miss my appointment with my personal trainer. What do you need to go to Home Depot at 7:00 in the evening for?"
Frank's blood came to a boil as he heard the grating, crunching sound coming from his kitchen. "You like that Raisin' Bran, don't you, you little bastards. That's my damn Raisin Bran and this is my goddamn apartment ..." his thoughts were racing. He calmed down enough to reply to Henry. "Uh, I uh, I have to go to Home Depot to buy some Rat poison."
"Rat poison?" Henry asked quizzically. "W-why are you buying rat poison?"
"I've got rats, Henry."
"Yeah, Frank, obviously, but why are you buying rat poison ... I mean, why not buy a rat trap?"
"Yeah, I guess I could buy a trap. I, uh, I'll look around once I'm there."
"All right," sighed Henry. "I guess I'll see you later, then. I'll call you tomorrow if you wanna see a movie or work out, or have dinner with me and Amy or something."
"Amy? You're having dinner with Amy?"
"Yeah, sure," said Henry, cheerily. "We hooked up last week so, you know, so we're gonna try to see if we can't keep it going."
Frank had always liked
