Losing a job is a very delicate subject. One that often results in many people being disheartened and down with the feeling of helplessness. An important thing to remember is that it is not completely uncommon and there are still high hopes for the future.
1. It's not your fault!
The most important thing to remember is that you are not to be blamed. Your job loss is entirely a result of recession and will therefore be no reflection on you or your capability. Once you realise this you will be able to move towards the prospect of another job.
2. Be positive!
Positive thoughts result in positive outcomes and the first step towards this is developing the mentality of one who is determined to succeed. One must feel that they can succeed before they do. With an optimistic outlook you are sure to create that perfect CV, apply for the perfect job, have the perfect interview and find a job better than your previous one.
3. Look at your previous successes
It has always been the error of all humans to look at their failures and never their achievements. There is always a bright side and you often need to remind yourself of this to help raise your self-esteem. You will have gained tons of experience which is guaranteed to take you places. Your previous successes have allowed you to move from job to job and there is no reason that it will end now. The skills that you have gained will remain with you forever and are sure to be valuable for future job ventures.
4. Make sure you have a support system
Many people tend to feel obliged to hide their job loss. What they don't realise is that this will only make matters worse and lower their self-esteem. It is vital that you tell your friends and family who will offer an understanding shoulder to lean on. This is sure to make you feel better and help you find a solution with their help and advice.
5. Don't give up!
The easiest option is to lose all hope and lose complete faith. This is always the worse route that you can take. You need to make sure that you search for jobs everywhere you can. Don't be ashamed to apply for something that may not have been your first option nor too shy to apply for a higher position you have never had before. Be confident in your skills as they will lead you to greatness. Avoid pigeonholing yourself to a particular job role as you may find this will make it difficult to recover from job loss. Don't make boundaries. Break them.
