There are so many drinking games out there it can seem confusing to find one to actually play. One thing that should make a good drinking game should be that it is easy to play, after all how hard do things become the drunker you get, so you don't want something that requires a maths degree to play! On the other hand if the game is being played by a group of professors trying to unravel the complexities of the universe then they may want something more challenging to them which brings me on to the next point even though generally simplicity is best.

Human nature will mean that different groups of people are individual in what they like so the game should also be one that best fits those playing so they enjoy it more. As the saying goes, "One man's food is another man's poison", these games are no different. A game that is enjoyed by one group of people may well not give the same pleasure to others, so find one for those actually involved that they will find enjoyable.

Play them for the fun they are as well, there is no real skill involved as the whole point of them is to give some kind of excusable focus to a social gathering for people to drink and have fun together. It can also make them feel that there is a valid reason to drink when maybe they wouldn't normally, perhaps use it as an excuse to use for some time later! Remember there is no real strategy to be found in these games so don't spoil your enjoyment by trying to find one, the whole point is to have some uninhibited fun!

Also bear in mind is that if you are playing these in public places, like a bar or pub, then you must be responsible to the others that are there as some of the games by their very nature can get very rowdy, these are best played in private places or at parties. (Or in the beer garden outside the pub at least.).

Finally before you play make sure that everyone has agreed what the actually drinking rules are. This can become complicated as some drink beer, others may prefer wine and some drink the harder stuff. Obviously to drink the same measure of a short, vodka, whiskey or some such would be inviting some medical incident for those drinking them if there not careful. Playing so that the person drinks two fingers of their beer, then those drinking shorts divide a single shot to 3/4 sips say but the important thing for the game is make sure the rules are laid out before you play.
