and you think that you can add Satanism to your life for your own benefit, then you will find doors opening that didn't open before. You will be seeing things the same way you did before, but in the knowledge that you're not the only person who thinks this way. The Church doesn't preach doctrine of practice to anyone (another common but dumb accusation), it simply caters for those who naturally understand how Satanism works; there is no synthetic way of understanding it, after all. With the Church of Satan, there are many like you who are moving in the same direction:

Their direction.

The Church is like an archive of existing talent, something you join if you wish to partake of it. But like any naturally existing habitat, you must put back what you take out in order to maintain the Devil's continuum. Parasites, leeches, criminals, wastrels and other assorted scumbags may well pay the delimiting fee to join, with the intent of never providing anything. They consider the fee affordable and don't mind wasting their money for no good reason; they are free to do so. And once their insignificance is noticed, they will find themselves quickly removed from the Church structure, with an invitation to stay away.

This would be true of any organisation; magical, mundane or otherwise. There will always be bad apples in the bunch, regardless of how stratifying you are. The fact that the Church of Satan is usually described in terms of its worst examples is a blatant illustration that decryers can't deal with the best examples. This attempt to destroy a straw man may look impressive to rubes, imbeciles and confused teenagers, but the Church of Satan simply lets them continue their little cherades with a smile and a knowingness that the "people" concerned will run out of interest or money soon enough. We are also acutely aware of the fact that our existence fuels theirs, just as Satan fuels the existence of the churches of the world.

It's only a shame neither group seems to see the irony of this.

The Church of Satan (and its website) is a resource for the application of Satanism, not a substitute for Satanism itself this is in the same way that Satanism is a tool to enhance your life and not a substitute for it. It's information isn't designed to instruct you, it's supposed to inspire you to do such things for yourself. Such people are few and far between, people that actually live Satanism, instead of merely talking about it. And because such people are so limited in what Magister Svengali describes as a "rising tide of subhuman scum", the fact that:

"We're looking for a few outstanding individuals."

Should be obvious.
