Kiley stepped off the bus and walked into the terminal in Jessup, Nebraska. A small quaint little town with miles and miles of corn rows in it's fields. Kiley had side tracked her trip home to Iowa to see her grandma. She was on spring break from the university and instead of going home to see her parents, she decided to spend some time with her favorite person in the whole world. Kiley's grandma may not have been up to date on fashion trends or what was going on at the mall, but she was very easy to talk to and Kiley had much on her mind to say.
Kiley's grandma had Mr. Huey pick her up from the bus station because she could no longer drive due to her eye sight being bad. Grandma on occasion had been stopped by town police for swerving across the double yellow line. Of course the policeman would ticket her and demand she go to the DMV for an update on her eye test, but grandma was a rebel and she never went to the DMV for anything. How dare the policeman say her License had expired. She had her AARP card what more did they expect from her.
Kiley would laugh out loud to her self when ever grandma would tell her that story on the phone, but Kiley was glad grandma didn't chance being caught to come pick her up from the bus station. Mr. Huey's car was a very big car. A 1973 Lincoln Continental four door that looked like president Kennedy's official car. She felt like royalty as she sat in the back seat and made small talk with Mr. Huey.
The car soon turned down the long gravel road to grandma's house and Kiley could see her sitting on the front porch swing, kicking her legs back and forth. A broad smile enveloped her wrinkled weather beaten face and her white hair shined in the sun with the tint of bluing she added to color her hair.
"Oh it is so good to see you grandma! It has been way to long."
"I know dear ,I know." her grandma cried as the tears of joy ran down her face. "Come on in the house and I will fix us some spearmint tea."
Kiley thanked Mr. Huey for the ride and caught grandma giving him a wink as she said she would settle up with him later. The two women laughed like little school girls as the entered the kitchen. Shame on you grandma for being such a flirt. Grandma could only laugh and told Kiley that variety was the spice of life, besides the old coot would do anything for her attention. Kiley just smiled and blushed to grandmas brazen comments.
The two women talked for hours and Kiley got grandma up to speed on how her home life at her parents was
