Is your family important to you? People who say yes to this question are saying they know how important their family is to them. If they say no this to this question, they need to reexamine how to change their interpretation of the word family.
People today tend to need their families more than ever. Teens are getting pregnant with no where to stay. Young boys have tried making there own way only to become broke the next day.
Teens aren't the only ones who need family. Our parents may need our help keeping them out of a nursing home. These types of crisis will bring the word family front and center. What does this have to do with the meaning of family? Everything! Family members take care of one another through the good times and the bad times. This is where the true meaning of family begins. The truth of the matter is that the meaning behind the word family will never end as long as families love each other and stick by one another.
Parents who help their teenagers put their high school float together and give of their time, know the meaning of family. This act of love will always be remembered for more than a year or two.
Family also means doing what has to be done. Tough love may need to be standing front and center on occasions too. Teens need this act as much as youngsters. One may need a slight ground or two. The teen may need a different type of ground. You know it. Car privileges! Families sometimes have to play hard ball in order to keep up with the pitcher. Tough love will come out ahead when families stick to their principles and deal with family with love.
Trials are a part of life. Families should lend a helping hand where help is needed, and give advice even if someone doesn't want it. Families do that. They stick like a fly on fly paper. Now! That's a close knitted family.
God loves us all. We're all members of his family. He has had to play tough love at times wit us too. Other times he just needed to gently remind us. God is good and we'll always be family to him. Why? That's what the word family means. It sits right there in the middle of our hearts.
Mary and Joseph had a son named Jesus that is talked about in the Bible. This baby named Jesus learned early on how important the word family is. His mother knelt beside Jesus on the cross. That's one loving family member. His mother knew she wouldn't want to be any where else. Hurtful as it was, Mary loved her son and suffered with him. She's an example of what the word family should mean.
Mary's son is our Father. That means we're one big family. Now! Let's stick together.
