Halloween is approaching and you have no idea of what to do with your kids. Huntsville, Alabama offers a variety of events to make each Halloween a memorable one. There are even events focused toward adults only for those that don't have kids or are simply kids at heart.
From September to November, the Blakely family creates an amazing corn maze for the public. As you go through the haunted maze, expect people and other things to pop out at you. Parental discretion is advised because some maze tours may be too scary for younger children. However, they do have children oriented corn maize and activities such as hayrides, cow train, corn tunnel and more. In the spirit of Halloween they have appearances by Clifford, Barney, and Tiger as they have a special trick or treat event for the children. You will have to check the website each year for the date they schedule this.
Other events to enjoy are the corn cannon, pvc slides, and the goat walk. They also have campfires spots available for $20. Field trips and scout trips are available with registration. Normal admission is $8 for ages 11 and up with admission for those under 11 years of age at $6. The Haunted Maze is $15 for ages 11 and up. Kids' admission for ages 6-10 is $10.
Each fall Tate Farms opens their farm to the public. This is usually late September to late October. Although many schools take field trips to the farm, individuals and families are welcome as well. The admission is $10 and includes a petting zoo, hayride through the 60-acre pumpkin field, a hay bale maze, a cotton jump, corn beds to play in, a barnyard playground and so much more.
For an additional cost you can pick your own pumpkin, participate in a pumpkin carving class, ride on a corn train, shoot gourds from a gourd gun, and even face painting. They also have a country store with many gifts available for purchase.
They even have The Barn Caf which serves food from 9am to 6pm Monday through Saturday. There are a variety of food items to choose from including fried chicken, chicken fingers, fries, and of course some of the best pumpkin pie in the south. Also they have pumpkin slushies, funnel cakes, roasted corn, cotton candy, and more snacks to tempt the pallet.
Every September and October, the Huntsville Botanical Gardens attracts people from all over with their unique array of scarecrows. On the weekends you can take a hayride through the Enchanted Forest as you see the creative
