Homeschooling has many great benefits for both the parents and the student. Setting your own schedule is one of the greatest benefits of homeschooling. If your children are in a public school, they are required to be in their seats at a specific time each day, no matter what challenges may have presented themselves that morning at home or en route to school. Occasionally these challenges are completely out of our control. By homeschooling, you are able to alleviate the occasional tardy on your child's school record and to rearrange your child's school day accordingly.
Schools have a set curriculum that is required of each and every student in the district. The students are required to do each and every assignment that a teacher gives to them, or take an incomplete. It doesn't matter what your religious beliefs are, or your personal moral standards. A class assignment is just that, a class assignment. By homeschooling your child you are in control of what you son or daughter is learning. You can pick and choose the curriculum that you desire for your child.
For some families, homeschooling is the only option. Their child may have a serious medical condition that causes a low immune system. Exposure to typical childhood diseases or germs may be life threatening to such a child. Less exposure to these types of childhood disease may just save their lives. In addition there is less stress at home. Stress can often exacerbate an illness.
Homeschooling also affords the family the opportunity for off season travel if desired. Off season travel translates into several bonuses. An enriching experience for the child (often travel can be incorporated into homeschooling) and lower prices for said travel. If one travels off season many destinations are less than half price.
Working at his or her own pace is another great benefit to homeschooling. Each and every child has a different talent or gift, different strengths and weaknesses. By homeschooling, I can help my child that is struggling in math and encourage him or her to continue expanding on his or her love for history. My child will not have to face the stigma of being held back due to the struggle in math. We will simply continue on until he or she gets the concept and go from there.
Location. Homeschooling can be done anywhere at any time. You don't need special equipment and you certainly don't need a classroom per se to homeschool. You can homeschool in the living room, family
