The name of the most creative person I know is "Human". Human is very creative with generating new worries that are, most of the time, well-nigh impossible to happen. He can always come up with a chain of worries to spend the time fretting over. Whenever he takes a new step forward, instead of starting with a positive frame of mind, he starts applying his creativity to go two steps back. The aforesaid creativity hinders the development of Human's forward-looking process towards relaxation.
When one is attached to his burdens more than they are attached to him, one would fail. In the case of Human, he does not only dwell on his worries, but he creates new ones. Therefore, he does not only think about today's worries, but about tomorrow's ones as well. His fishing for relaxation is at stake because of this sort of creativity. As far as I am concerned, I used to be as creative as Human. But I have come to the conclusion that this type of creativity is not in the best of my interests. When I create new worries and add them to the ones I already have, the load becomes unbearable. Therefore, I have decided to follow certain strategies that would pave the way to relaxation.
Identifying the causes of stress and making a stand to weather them are the first steps toward relaxation. It is futile trying to relax when one does not even know the cradle of stress. Therefore, one must ponder for a moment to know what prevents him or her from relaxing. If stress stems from everyday worries, one should get away from the hectic pace of city life and visit a place that has an aura of quietness. Reminding one's self that daily worries are unavoidable facts of life and that everyone suffers from them will certainly make the trouble seem picayune.
If stress does not stem from day-to-day responsibilities, one ought to find the whereabouts of the main culprits first, and then try his or her utmost to deal with them. It is vain to rely on relaxation techniques when occasional problems are the causes of stress because they only unwind in small doses. One should try to unravel the knots of those problems instead of looking for some fleeting moments of relaxation. Recognizing the sources of stress and mustering one's forces to deal with them are two of the first steps toward relaxation.
I hope that you and Human will stop exercising his minds and realize that creativity can be used otherwise not only in creating worries you suffer from more in imagination than in reality.
