Consumer Reports is an excellent place to start when looking for the ratings of car - safety, quality, etc. They put out their reports in a printed magazine that you can obtain in any library. They are also online at www.consumerreports.org.
There is another website that is an excellent research tool for anyone about ready to purchase a new or used vehicle. This site gives reports on purchase price, leasing prices, consumer ratings, safety ratings, etc. They also have an excellent section on "Buying Guidelines" that you shouldn't miss when you are in the market to purchase a car. This site is called Edmunds.com and it's URL is www.edmunds.com.
Government crash test safety ratings are also given on AutoInfo.org.
An excellent explanation of what to look for in the safety ratings is given on www.car-safety.org. Another place to look is on CrashTest.com which has links to excellent articles on all sorts of things that affect the safety of cars as well as other considerations when purchasing a new or used car.
Safety should be the number one factor to consider when looking for a car. There are a number of other websites as well that give information, but these are some of the best and most reliable sources out there.
