Comparing the writing experience on Helium and Squidoo

Helium and Squidoo are really totally two different sites. Helium is more of an article writing site than squidoo. Squidoo is more of a mini website which they call lenses. My first experience writing online was with squidoo, which I had managed to get addicted to right from the beginning. Months later, I had joined Helium. I still don't write to often on helium, but I do write a little bit each month just to stay active. Now let's take a look at each site individually.

Helium

Helium is what it is; an article writing site. You write about a topic that interests you. There are topics available to choose from. If the topic is not available, you can submit your idea and maybe it will be accepted. In most case, it is accepted. You compete with other members to have a top ranking article. With that, you earn writing stars. The amount of stars you earn are based off of how well your articles rank, plus how many articles you have written. You also can rate other articles within the site. If you have five rating stars, you can make $3 extra each month that you keep that amount of stars. If you write new articles each month, you can make money that way, but some categories are excluded plus now it is only up to five articles in each article subject. You also can make money based off of how many views you get from your articles.

Squidoo

As I had stated, I did in fact start with Squidoo first. Everyone whom writes on the site is called a lensmaster. Instead of being called articles, it is called lenses. Lenses in a sense are what you consider mini sites where you write about what you are passionate about. Writing a lens takes a lot of patience and work. Unlike articles, you have more control of what you write. You can take the idea you use to write articles, but take it up a notch as you can write your article into sections which you would call modules. There are plenty of modules you can choose from. You can even sell items on your lenses. The way you make money through the site is through how well your lens ranks within the community, but also if you have made any money through any of their money makers like amazon. You are even allowed to add affiliate links to your lens. They do have a limit for members as to how many outgoing links that you are allowed.

Both Helium and Squidoo do pay through paypal which is good for people whom prefer to get their money through paypal.
