The first F.E.A.R title took horror survival games to a whole new level, this game scared people enough within the first few minutes that they outright refused to play it. Personally I like these sorts of games, the scarier the better. I spent many nights sitting in pitch black darkness with my headphones on playing F.E.A.R. I saw F.E.A.R 2: Project Origin in stores during one of my regular browsing sessions and decided I would pick up a copy and give it a try, see how the sequel complimented the first game. After spending countless hours playing the first title I came into this with high expectations.
The Gameplay 7/10
The game is very linear, like most shooters you follow a set level and storyline. F.E.A.R 2 seems like a movie at times, you will definitely be on the edge of your seat when playing this game. Movement, shooting, reloading etc are all pretty standard when it comes to controls. The game involves not only shooting your way through baddies but also a lot of backtracking. There is one key to success in F.E.A.R 2 is taking it slow, you will enjoy this game a lot more if you take your time and find all the intel items in the game. The gameplay was smooth, the environment reacts well to your actions and you will find yourself running, sliding and jumping your way through one bad guy at a time.
The Story 9/10
The story is very intense in F.E.A.R 2 and will pull you in straight away, although you will definitely be lost if you haven't played the first title. The game begins with your team on a mission, which is interrupted by a nuclear explosion in the distance towards the end of the first level. The explosion turns the city into a wasteland and sets you off on your mission to destroy ALMA once and for all. I won't spoil it for you, you definitely have to see these climax moments yourself. The game though, is a little short.
The Graphics 10/10
This game is beautiful, scary, and awe inspiring all at the same time. This is mostly due to the high detail in graphics and the amount of work put into every different aspect of each room you enter. The graphics are definitely high-end and will help greatly to have you rushing for the light switch if you scare easily. Having a machine that can play this title at max settings is a definite must, and you couldn't justify playing it any other way.
Replay Value: No
Personally while it is a great game, and I am glad I bought it, I would of much preferred to rent this on a console. If you plan to play multiplayer this game has a lot of value, but other than that there's no real reason to go back and play the game again.
