Learning how to earn gold in the World of Warcraft is a must. Without lots of gold it is difficult to progress throughout the game. Gold will buy you weapons, armour, transport, potions, mounts, and various other items of use. As you progress through the game the gold needed to purchase items that you need and want rises at an exponential rate. To combat the rise in prices you must learn little tricks to gain money.

There are many ways to earn gold in the game and some work better than others. With most of the techniques for earning gold you will have to familiarise yourself with the in game auction house.

The auction house (AH) is in every major city and are linked. All Horde auction houses are linked to one another as are all alliance and all neutral auction houses. Get to know the auction houses and the best ways to use them. There are many many guides out there that explain in detail how to use the auction houses so it is a good idea to do some research into it. It may also be a good idea to download an add on named auctioneer that is available from curse.com. It is a small add on that will help any newbie learn to use the auction house to make a fair amount of gold.

So what is the easiest way to make gold in the World of Warcraft?

When starting out in the game the easiest way to make lots of gold is to take two gathering professions such as skinning and mining, or skinning and herbalism and sell the materials gathered on the auction house. Materials can fetch a pretty penny on the auction house because there are always people who wish to buy the materials for their chosen profession but cannot be bothered or lack the time or patients to go out and farm the materials themselves. This means that someone who is just going round and gathering the needed materials and selling them will be able to make fast sales. When putting materials on the auction house it is always a good idea to try to put full stacks on on sale because people tend to prefer to buy full stacks. Although with some professions they need stacks of five, jewellers need stacks of 5 ore for their prospecting skill in order to get gems, the same goes for people who take inscription, they need stacks of 5 herbs for the milling skill to get pigments. If you post stacks of 5 you tend to be able to add an extra couple of silver to the asking price because people are more willing to shell out and extra bit of cash for a smaller amount of materials when they don't need a full stack.
