Great gift ideas for the Southern baker

by Susan Branson

Created on: July 12, 2009

If you want to give a unique gift to a Southern baker that will make a lasting impression, keep reading this article ya'll. Southern bakers are in a class of their own. They love tradition, yet they also love being creative in the kitchen. They have a special eye for detail. As you know by watching many Southern cooks and bakers on television, they never skimp on anything. They are not afraid to try new things and have great imagination that shows in their dishes. Most Southern bakers have learned this fine art from family and friends, also through trial and error of their own in the kitchen. They basically have everything they need, this is why finding a unique item is so important.

My first recommendation that no true Southern baker is going to be without or can never have enough of is an apron. Whether it be a vintage apron or a brand new one, this is a staple for any Southern baker, and just one will never do. There is an apron for every occasion.

Another great gift for a Southern baker would be a lovely cake stand or serving platter. You can spend as much as you would like on these. Depression glass cake plate or stand really makes a lovely gift. If you have a fancy Southern baker to buy for, you may want to go for sterling silver. Presentation of the finished product is very important to Southern bakers. Whether they are serving grandma's red velvet cake or lady fingers, presentation is the key.

Fancy cupcake liners are also a fun and unique gift. You can find these liners with pretty designs or scalloped edging or even holiday liners for Christmas and Easter baking. These are a simple yet unique gift that any Southern baker would enjoy.

One of my favorite baking accessories is what are called glassine envelopes. They are made from wax paper and provide a neat envelope for cookies or candy. Perfect for party favors, and we all know Southern bakers love to entertain!

Pre seasoned cast iron biscuit or muffin pans are a great addition to any Southern kitchen. Cast iron retains heat very well and makes an excellent baking tool for homemade biscuits, corn bread, muffins or cake. You will not find any Southern baker that does not have their own special corn bread or biscuit recipe.

There are so many fun and unique gifts to give to your favorite Southern baker. Just remember to add a fancy ribbon to the gift and your ready to go.
