Living away from loved ones is something some of us must do to obtain certain life goals such as school, employment, raising children or just different environment to help ensure ones happiness. Through out life families move, causing children to change schools and leave their old friends behind. Parents may become divorced and move cities, difficult for everybody to have to live so far away. Some of us move away after high school, move on to college but again away from our loved ones. One of the most difficult decisions for one to have to make in life, but most do what makes them happy.
It is always expected through childhood that one day we move out of the nest and begin our journey as adults but rarely is it thought sometimes you have to live in the next forest to really fly. Letting go of family, long known friends and familiar places. The farewell part is always the hardest as everyone knows it will probably be a while before another visit.
Living away can be difficult for those accustomed to living with a close knit family, sometimes finding themselves home sick when their roommate doesn't catch a joke that normally had the family laughing. Seeing unfamiliar faces and unfamiliar places makes one sometimes long for the good old days when everyone was together.
Living away from loved ones has its positive aspects though. It allows the chance to grown independently not always having parents or close relatives to rely on. Although it is always nice to have the help in rough situations, sometimes its just not that easy.
Living on your own also allows a chance for new experience, making your mistakes and learning on your own often making one stronger by becoming independent.
Living on your own doesn't mean cutting your loved ones out of your life, it just means you'll have to try harder and work at keeping that family bond even though everybody has a different zip code. As long as budget allows it, visiting family and loved ones on special date's and holidays make those occasions all more special.
Technology plays a huge roll in making it a little easier to be away with long distance calling, video chat, social networking websites and email are excellent ways to say hello when you cant be there in person. It may not be the same as getting together for a coffee but its better than nothing.
Living on your own shows both its good and bad sides but when you do get the chance to visit with the ones you love even for a brief moment, cherish the time and take lots of pictures you can reflect on later. Your loved ones may not always be able to be there physically but in heart you know where home really is.
