What is wrong with modern day horror movies?

What is wrong with modern day horror movies? I am a huge horror movie fan and being that, I think is one of the problems with horror movies. I have seen so many that it is harder to impress me. I think the producers are trying so hard to pull in the viewers that they leave out good story lines and such and add the things they think grab the attention of the movie goers. That would explain the naked, big breasted women. It's getting harder and harder to come up with new things.

When I see commercials on new movies coming out, they look good and I would be excited to see them. Most of the time, I'm let down because it wasn't near as good as it led on to be. It seems that a lot of them follow the same formula. The girl runs upstairs instead of out the door, the boyfriend leaves the bed for a beer or the tent to go to the bathroom which usually leads to at least one of them dying. I get a little tired of viewing stupidity in victims which makes it less realistic.

The great thing about movies is that you can feel them or place yourself in their shoes. Nobody feels they are as stupid as they pass these victims off to be. You can't connect with anyone in these movies except the hero. I know if I hear weird noises coming from the basement, the last place I'm going is in the basement. Normal people don't stay in a house for 3 months and witness hauntings. I don't care how much you invested in it.

You know it's bad when you can tell what the character is gonna do before they do it. Some of the scariest movies I've seen have been ones that might actually happen. Situations you can place yourself in,ones that have you thinking what would I do in that situation. Horror movies make a lot of money and I think that's probably another problem. Creators are more into the money part than they are the entertainment value. They take a scary idea, surround it with lots of blood, gore, sex, and body count and turns it loose. They take one idea and run it into the ground. They quickly throw it together so quick that they often make obvious mistakes which are easily caught. The car door open in one shot and then mysteriously closed when you see it again, or a windshield cracked in one scene and intact in the next.

I will always be a horror fan, I like the thrill, but I sure hope they take a little more pride in their entertainment eventually. Give us something that will stay on our minds for awhile.
