Cooking is not a skill known for money making, but it is a fun and important skill to master. It is needed for lots of different quest as a requirement or recommendation. It is a useful skill that can help training in combat or fighting in PVP worlds. Without food, fighting bosses becomes almost impossible and the game will be a lot more dull. So this is a skill that you need to understand if you want to play Runescape. This is the introduction to Cooking, not a full guide.

Cooking is a skill with a huge variety of options, each takes a different role of making this skill the exciting to do and also coolest of all free to play skill. The excitement of cooking, training, leveling up and unlocking a new food is something that is rare and hard to experience in a lot of other games. Having to cook your and food and use it for fighting will save you millions of gold instead of buying food from other players.

To get started with cooking, talk to the cook in the Lumbridge Castle, he will give you your first cooking quest to do, the cook's assistance. After completing that quest your cooking should immediately level up. The best way to train your cooking at the start is to catch some fish and cook them over a fire. Head up to Draynor Village's fishing spot and fish until your bank is full of your fishes. Now wield your axe, tinderbox and a full bag of fish. Drop one of the fishes, cut a log and make a fire (Use your tinderbox with the log). Cook all your fish. Drop all the burnt ones and save up your good ones. Keep on repeating this process until your fishing and cooking gets to a level where you can cook and fish more profitable food. Your cooking level should go up really fast. Another way is to train your Combat, Prayer, Wood Cutting, Fire making while training cooking. Go to the Lumbridge cow farm, I would recommend to to wield an axe and take a tinder box with you. Kill the cows, bury their bones and take their meat. After you have got a full bag, go to a tree nearby. Drop one of cow meat and cut a log. Use the tinderbox with the log to make a fire, pick up the meat that your drop and cook them all. Once you finish cooking, drop all the burnt ones and eat all the ones that are cooked successfully. Repeat this process until your cooking becomes a lot higher.

Once your cooking gets to level 32, you can enter the cooking guild. There is probably one of the best places to grind you weed, make your flour. It has a cookery shop, a water source, a wind mill and even a bank (the bank is member only)! To go in you will need a chef's hat and an apron. These can be found at Port Sarim.

The best and easiest way is to mostly cook meat and fish. You do not have to prepare ingredients for the food and the process is simple and fast. But after your cooking level gets to 60, you will be able to cook curry (members only). This will give will the most exp (280xp) in cooking. This is the best way to train your cooking, so keep on cooking this if you want to become a master chef. For the free users, baking cakes will get you the most exp and is the best combat training food.

Since you cannot make good money from cooking meat (because cooking the raw one decreases the price of the food), you can still make tuna potatoes, they make the best money in cooking. Cooking normally does not require lot of money if you fish your own fish and get your own ingredients, so money does not really matter that much. Later on in the game when you will need money, cooking will not come in handy. So check out this Guide: Money Making Guide
