Dear George Bush:
Begrudging forgiveness is in order, here, Mr. Bush. Grace of God; by definition; is never deservedly given. Forgiving is for the forgiver. One does oneself a favor by giving the benefit of the doubt to the transgressor.
Judgment of actions taken by the present administration results in a conclusion of the office of President being less powerful a position than was heretofore believed. What is being expressed here is a new understanding of the level of servitude demanded by corporations for coming up with the hundreds of multitude millions of dollars required to elect a President of the United States of America. So much so, that justification for Iraqi invasion in the form of nonexistent weapons of mass destruction; was sold to and bought by your people. For a time, that is.
These lobbies are so persistent in demanding payback that a President cannot make a decision for himself. Arms manufacturers demand war, the President gives them one. Insurance Companies demand profit, hence elected official health care denial to their constituents is manifested. Americans wish revenge on anyone Muslim, therefore Guantanamo is created as a new residence for unfortunate, no status; aliens.
Responses of “It is well, it is well, within my soul” about Guantanamo seem dishonest, and difficult to abide. “But for the grace of God go I” is more accurate, forthcoming of gratitude, and yet inadequate to bring peace to an individual. Only perverted pleasure mixed with debauched good humor can be associated to the goings on at that facility.
So how much responsibility is assigned to you, personally, Mr. Bush, and how much of it is simply due to political pressure from Corporate America? On the plus side, 152 executions during your Texas Governorship is the national record. It shows your value of human life. The other side of the coin is the $258 million cost of your second election. That kind of cash comes not without expectant, remunerative behavior. Little details like Iraqi invasions, for instance, are demands of payback. The truth of personal pleasure verses corporate indebtedness wafts itself into dispassionate disillusionment.
Perhaps you will redeem yourself from Katrina with this Haitian earthquake relief effort. God knows they could use the help. Anyway, the past is gone and damage control is the action plan for the fine world mess in which we find ourselves.
Thanks for nothing, Mr. Bush, other than for the fact of truth realization that the Office of President is nothing more than a voice box for corporate interest.
Sincerely,
Concerned Citizen
