Signs of Emotional Immaturity to Take Note Of
It is often found that you get people with a combination of chronological and intellectual maturity but when combined with a lack of emotional maturity, you have the possibility of an individual living a destructive life, having the ability to complicate and turn life into a living hell not only for themselves, but for those who surround them as well.
Emotional immaturity can be identified by four major characteristics:
1: Self-centeredness
2: Unpredictable and Unstable emotions
3: Over-dependence
4: Demanding attention hunger behavior.
1: Self-Centeredness
Self-centeredness is usually the strongest characteristic of an emotional immature person. The best way to identify it is by selfish behavior. It is unlikely that they will have any concern for their actions or consequences thereof towards other people and only focus on their own gain or loss.
It is also commonly found that the emotionally immature person will be lost in thought or consumed with his own troubles, views, and the results thereof. They are demanding of nature, expect endless attention, and persistently search for complements.
A typical trait one will notice is that they are extremely competitive and does not accept losing well. If things are not going their way, they will demand change or they will refuse to participate further.
Another strong trait is that they do not accept responsibility for their actions and find another individual's actions to be the cause of their poor performance or inability. They commonly don't have a realistic view on themselves and are not susceptible to constructive criticism.
2: Unpredictable And Unstable Emotions
These traits are very easy to identify. Do you know the feeling when you are not sure on how to act towards a person, because you do not know what to expect this time around, even if you known that person for years? That feeling of "walking on eggs"?
Emotional immature people have unpredictable and mostly unstable emotions. They can be pleasant the one moment for as long as things go their way, and explode with anger the next moment about a trivial remark or incident.
Emotionally immature people do not handle criticism well and have the ability to be out-of-control with jealousy. They do not forgive others easily, but demand forgiveness instantaneously.
3: Over-Dependence
During our human dependence developmental stages we start with complete dependency, move to suspected total independence and
