During this time of the season, fireworks displays can be found in most of the major cities. The 4th of July is always a highly celebrated holiday, and the fireworks shows are typically the most sought after event. In the Minneapolis / St. Paul vicinity, there are several Independence Day celebrations to choose from. There are some smaller 4th of July festivities in neighboring communities, so if you are looking for one of those, please call your local chamber of commerce. 1. Harriet Island - This fireworks display is hosted in downtown St. Paul from July 2nd - July 5th. It is an entire weekend event. 2. Annandale - This Independence Day celebration takes you back to the days of the Old West. It is located at Pioneer Park and has scheduled activities on both July 4th and July 5th. You can expect to hear traditional bluegrass music, watch performers participate in street theater, and experience the wild west show. Admission to this event is $5 per person. You won't want to miss this great Independence Day celebration as it revisits the days of the Old West.
3. Lakeville - Celebrate the 4th of July at the Lakeville North High School during their most highly recognized event of the year. This attraction is called the Panorama of Progress, also known as the Pan-O-Prog, and entails a week long 4th of July celebration. 4. Apple Valley - This is another 4th of July event that lasts for a whole week. The annual Apple Valley Freedom Days is hosted at the Johnny Cake Ridge Park and includes entertainment and activities geared toward the whole family. The festivities run from June 26th - July 4th.
